If you're craving some indulgent chocolate treats but don’t want to spend your entire weekend in the kitchen, you’ve come to the right place. We’re diving into three deceptively simple, yet totally crave-able recipes: Mexican Chocolate Fudge, Brazilian Brigadeiros, and Chocolate Marquesa. These desserts bring a dash of Latin flair to your sweet game—and yes, we promise they’re as easy as they are luxurious.

1. Spicy-Sweet Mexican Chocolate Fudge

Why we love it: It’s like Thanksgiving candied sweet potatoes met a chocolate bar, had a baby, and then that baby got a PhD in flavor.

Ingredients:

  • ½ lb. (about 225 g) semi-sweet chocolate, chopped

  • ½ lb. Mexican chocolate

  • 3 Tbsp butter

  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk

  • 2–3 Tbsp brewed espresso

  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1/8 tsp chili powder

  • 1/8 tsp ground cayenne pepper

  • Sea salt (to taste)

  • Walnuts (to garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Grease (lightly) an 8×8-inch pan with baking spray, line it with parchment paper, and spray again.

  2. Bring about 2 inches of water to a simmer in a saucepan. Place a heat-safe bowl on top (double boiler style), making sure it doesn’t touch the water.

  3. Add the chopped semi-sweet chocolate, Mexican chocolate, butter, condensed milk, and espresso into the bowl. Stir frequently until everything is melted and smooth.

  4. Once smooth, stir in the cinnamon, chili powder, and cayenne until well incorporated.

  5. Remove from heat, pour into your prepared pan, and sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top.

  6. Chill in the fridge for at least 4 hours (overnight is ideal).

  7. Once set, cut into squares, garnish with walnuts, and serve.

2. Brazilian Brigadeiros

Why we love it: These are the OG chocolate truffles — rich, fudgy, and rolled in sprinkles. If you haven’t made brigadeiros, you’re missing out.

Ingredients:

  • 14 oz sweetened condensed milk

  • 1 oz bittersweet chocolate

  • 1 tsp salted butter

  • Chocolate sprinkles for coating

Instructions:

  1. In a saucepan over low heat, combine the condensed milk, chopped bittersweet chocolate, and butter.

  2. Stir constantly for about 15 to 20 minutes, until the mixture becomes thick, glossy, and starts pulling away from the sides of the pan.

  3. Transfer the mixture to a shallow pan or plate and let it cool for 10–15 minutes.

  4. Butter your hands (this is not a suggestion), scoop small portions of the chocolate “dough,” roll them into balls, and then toss into a bowl of sprinkles.

  5. Place the brigadeiros in the refrigerator until firm.

3. Chocolate Marquesa

Why we love it: This is the dessert equivalent of a slow clap — elegant, rich, but not obnoxiously complicated. Perfect when you want to flex your kitchen skills without sending yourself into meltdown mode.

Ingredients:

  • 2 sticks of butter

  • 1.5 cups dark chocolate

  • 2 cups sugar

  • 5 eggs

  • 2 Tbsp flour

  • Fresh mint leaves (for garnish)

  • Almonds (to sprinkle on top)

Instructions:

  1. Melt the butter and dark chocolate together — either in a double boiler or microwave (yep, we’re keeping it real).

  2. Add the sugar, eggs, and flour to your chocolate-butter mixture. Stir until everything is beautifully combined.

  3. Line a baking mold with parchment paper, pour in the mixture, and bake in a double-boiler style (or water bath) at 350°F for about 20–25 minutes.

  4. Let it cool completely — seriously, don’t skip this. Then slice into thick pieces.

  5. For the final flourish, sprinkle with almonds and add a few fresh mint leaves on top.
