Canelazo

These cold winter nights treat yourself to a hot cup of canelazo, a traditional holiday drink from Ecuador.

Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Water
  • 3/4 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 oz. Lime juice
  • 4 Cinnamon sticks
  • 2 oz. Orange Juice
  • 3 oz. Aguardiente

Directions

  1. Stir the water, sugar, lime juice and cinnamon stick, bring to a boil.
  2. Turn off the heat, then add the orange juice and aguardiente.
  3. Serve in an Irish Coffee Glass or Coffee Mug.
  4. Sugar rim one side of the the glass, orange slice, and cinnamon stick to garnish.

Pro Tips

Remove the aguardiente for a kid-friendly version. Works great as a hot punch for a cold night!
