It’s no secret that Mexican food is exquisite, and choosing from its wide variety of dishes can be a great pleasure. Here are some quick, simple and mouth-watering ideas that will delight your friends.
Start with a tasty guacamole
The perfect snack to entice your appetite is guacamole, delicious and very easy to prepare. All you’ll need is a pair of ripe avocados, a bit of finely chopped onion, lemon juice and salt. Serve with crispy tortilla chips.
Pico de gallo
Another fresh and easy to prepare recipe is pico de gallo, an ideal side dish to accompany many Mexican delicacies. To prepare, all ingredients must be finely chopped, including tomatoes, onions and jalapeño peppers or green chiles. It can be served with nachos or as a complement to other side dishes. Like guacamole, this recipe is perfect for vegetarians.
Quesadillas
The only problem with quesadillas is that once you start eating them you can’t stop! To prepare them, you only need some good white corn tortillas and cheese. Then you can get creative by adding anything you want, like meat, chicken, mushrooms, sour cream, beans, lettuce … How do you like your quesadillas?
Some good tacos
You can’t have a Mexican party without some delicious tacos! There is a wide variety of options to fill these small tortillas. Meat, chicken, pork, vegetables and even shrimp or fish. The key to a good taco is how the meat is prepared, whether barbecue style, al pastor, carnitas, cochinita, carne asada and many other options. Which is your favorite?
Great food, great drinks!
Your guests will want to enjoy a good drink with their meal. Mexican culture offers many delicious possibilities with or without alcohol. It can be the classic Margarita, for which you only need tequila, triple sec and lemon juice. Or a Tequila Sunrise, prepared with some good tequila, orange juice and mint leaves. A non-alcoholic option is Aguas Frescas, a refreshing drink in flavors like Jamaica, lemon, tamarind, pineapple or chia.
Pan or Pastel de Elote
A good meal deserves a good dessert! Pan or Pastel de Elote (Corn Cake) is one of the star recipes of Mexican cuisine. Its preparation is very simple and needs only a few ingredients. You can even make them without a blender. Its main ingredient is corn, mixed with flour, butter and eggs. The mix is baked in the oven until golden brown, and the end result is a bread toasted on the outside and spongy inside. If you have a sweet tooth, you can prepare yours with a bit of condensed milk.
