The countdown is on, until we celebrate the “most wonderful time of the year”. For many people, Christmas is one of the most anticipated holidays, where we visit with family and give gifts to our loved ones. Many also wait all year to eat the delicious traditional dishes and recipes of the season.
For those of us who have the responsibility of preparing the Christmas table, we know that there are high expectations and lots of pressure for everything to be perfect.
To help you make this occasion extra special, our friends at Royal Prestige® have shared four dishes based on traditional recipes, but with an innovative touch. With these recipes you will most definitely surprise all your guests!
Christmas Pasta
If your family’s favorite dish is pasta and you want to prepare something different and elegant, you must try this recipe. Full of flavor, light and fresh, this dish is ideal to accompany the rest of your holiday menu you will be serving for your Christmas celebration.
For this recipe, take the 6-quart Dutch Oven and add 1 large orange and 1 lemon sliced, as well as 3 diced celery stalks. On top of that, place 4 pounds of large shrimp, 2 sprigs of cilantro, ½ cup of water, pepper and salt to taste.
At medium-high heat, cover the pot with the Redi-Temp® valve open and cook until it whistles, for about 2 minutes. Reduce the temperature to low and close the valve when it stops whistling. Cook for 8 to 10 more minutes, until the shrimp are ready.
Take the 5-Quart Mixing Bowl and combine 2 pounds of cooked shrimp with 1 pound of your favorite pasta (already cooked), as well as 1 cup of aioli sauce and 1 pound of steamed broccoli chopped. Add Granada seeds, banana peppers, feta cheese and chopped parsley. Add salt if needed and serve with a delicious piece of garlic bread.
Holiday Roast
No big party can be without a hearty meat dish, especially when with aromatic herbs and succulent roasted vegetables are involved. We assure you, with this recipe you will have everyone at the table wielding their utensils, waiting to try this delicacy.
Start by seasoning 12 pounds of chuck roast in a 5-Quart Mixing Bowl with ½ cup thyme minced, ½ cup rosemary minced, black pepper and salt. Let it marinate covered for 15 minutes in the refrigerator. Take the 3-Quart Mixing Bowl and mix 4 pounds of cubed potatoes cut in half, 2 tablespoons of minced garlic, black pepper and salt and set aside. Next, combine ½ cup of soy sauce, 1½ cups of beef broth and ½ cup of red wine in the 2-Quart Mix Bowl.
Preheat the Royal Prestige® Oval Roaster at medium-high heat for 3 minutes. Add the meat and sear it on all sides for 16 minutes (4 minutes on each side). Add the previously seasoned potatoes, 2 pounds of chopped carrot and the broth mixture. Lower the temperature to medium-low, cover and cook for 1 hour. Then, add 1 pound of chopped mushrooms, remove 2 cups of broth and set aside to use later. Cover and continue cooking for 15 more minutes.
Meanwhile, pour 2 cups of broth you removed and 2 teaspoons of cornstarch into an 8-inch Skillet. Stir constantly with the Precision Series Balloon Whisk at medium-high heat until the broth thickens. Finally, serve the meat with the sauce and enjoy!
Royal Style Turkey Mole
Turkey is another great protein that cannot be left out of a party. To break with tradition, this time surprise everyone by accompanying the turkey with a mole sauce that is super easy to prepare and delicious.
To prepare the mole, take the 4-quart Dutch Oven and combine 6 chopped tomatoes, 1 diced yellow onion, 3 cloves of minced garlic, 4 whole jalapeños, 2 twigs of cilantro, 2 cups of chicken broth, salt and black pepper to taste. Cook for 8 minutes at medium-high heat uncovered. Allow to cool off.
Meanwhile, preheat the 14-inch Paella Pan for 3 minutes at medium-high heat. Add 8 pounds of skinless turkey pieces, previously seasoned, and cook for 4 minutes at medium-high with the Redi-Temp® valve closed and the lid ajar. Turn the turkey and cook for 4 more minutes. Then, add 2 cups of chicken broth, cover with the valve open and cook until it whistles.
When the whistling stops, lower the temperature to medium and close the valve. Cook for 8 more minutes. Meanwhile, blend the mole in the Royal Vort-X Blender, adding ½ cup of unsalted peanuts and ½ cup Mexican style chocolate. Once the turkey is cooked, add the mole and cook for 2 minutes at medium temperature. Serve turkey mole with Mexican-style rice, lettuce, sliced radishes and sesame seeds.
Black Forest Cake
Everybody craves a delicious chocolate cake after a spectacular Christmas dinner! Black forest cake is a classic sweet treat, one that cannot be skipped during the holidays, with its bright decorative cherries and sweet whipped cream, it’s perfect for anyone with a sweet tooth.
To make this delicious cake, first take the 3-quart Mixing Bowl and combine a boxed chocolate cake mix, 1 cup of skim milk and 2 eggs with the Precision Series Balloon Whisk. Preheat the 10½-inch skillet for 3 minutes at medium-high. Remove the pan from the heat, cover it with oil spray and pour the cake mixture. Cover with the Redi-Temp® valve closed, lower the temperature to low and cook for about 20-23 minutes.
In the 2-quart Mixing Bowl, add 2 cups of heavy cream, a teaspoon of powdered sugar and a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Beat until it thickens. Divide the cream into two equal parts. Mix one of the parts with ¼ cup of cocoa powder and the other with 12 cherries cut in halves.
Cut the cake into 2 layers and, with the help of a knife, make holes. Pour 1 cup of cherry juice onto both sides. Spread the cream mixture with cherries over the bottom layer, cover with the other layer and then cover with the cream and cocoa mixture. Garnish with 12 whole cherries, ½ cup of grated chocolate and cocoa powder. Your sure to make everyone happy after this delectable treat!
