What is Meal Prep?
With inflation turning eggs into the new gold, meal prep is all the rage.
It’s essentially planning and preparing a weekly menu in advance, leaving you more time to do important things after work – like scroll Chilaquil videos on Tik Tok.
The best thing about Meal Prep?
You save money (since the purchase is focused on established recipes) and time (because you cook as much as possible at one time).
Because of the variety of ingredients and defined portions, meal prep helps you maintain a more complete and healthy diet. It’s also been known to curb snacking between meals.
Let’s begin…
We’ve put together a few recipes for the week to add to your routine. All of them take less than 30 minutes to cook. Sometimes we’re talking about a main course and other times we’re prepping sweets only… because they deserve their meal prep moment, too, right?
Monday
On Mondays you need to kick off the week with energy, that’s why we’re starting our meal prep with this power packed breakfast recipe. Portion out your ingredients and cook your potatoes and bacon in advance, so that you’re just adding an egg in the AM.
For dinner, let’s close out the day with a delicious and nutritious easy-to-make salad. Did you know that cauliflower is high in fiber and also a good source of antioxidants?
Tuesday
This breakfast is ideal since it only takes 10 minutes to make. Prep the recipe the night before, and the next morning you will have tasty and nutritious jars of oats ready to rock.
Let’s also do a “treat yourself Tuesday” with Brazilian truffles that can be stored in the fridge!
Wednesday
It is the time to incorporate seafood into the week. Let’s combine the delicious fish filling of tacos that you make on Sunday with a tasty salad. The US Dept of Agriculture advises cooked seafood can be safely stored in the fridge for 3 to 4 days.
Thursday
Let’s celebrate Thursday with fajitas—similar to tacos but the dough is softer, almost like a burrito. We recommend cooking this filling on Monday, so it’s fresh and delightful on Thursday.
Friday
Savory Pie is always a good idea! You can cook it whenever you want, put it in the freezer and defrost the portions you want to eat any day of the week. It’s always a crowd pleaser!
Saturday
It’s Saturday! Time to pamper yourself with an amazing meal. All part of the meal prep routine, cook these empanadas on Sunday, store them in the freezer and on Saturday defrost and cook the ones you want to watch a movie with a beer.
Sunday
Sundays are for relaxing, and there’s nothing better than having some delicious meatballs already prepared and stored in the fridge. These pair perfectly with rice and a quick veggie.
Looking for something sweet to snack on while your meal prepping for next week? (Very meta.) These bars are it. Make them and store them in the fridge for several days! Meal prep is amazing, right?
