Healthy Menu Ideas to Surprise your Husband on a Sunday
Why not surprise your husband and show him how much you love him by preparing some of his favorite recipes — with a healthy twist?
Healthy cooking is not only about choosing the right ingredients, but also having good cookware that supports your healthier lifestyle. For example, Royal Prestige® NOVEL® pans have a unique cooking surface which preserves the nutritional value and flavor of your foods and allows you to cook most types of meat, poultry, and some types of fish without any added grease, fat, or cooking oil.
If you are looking for ideas to surprise your husband, check out these tips and recipes that will make his Sunday a special day, without any guilt.
Oatmeal Pancakes
When was the last time you surprised your husband with breakfast in bed? For a special Sunday, plan to wake him up with something new and different from ordinary eggs and toast or traditional pancakes.
Oats, for example, are a very complete and balanced cereal because, in addition to carbohydrates and fibers, they provide more protein, fats, and minerals than other cereals.
Oatmeal pancakes are not only different, but they are also delicious and super healthy. You can also prepare them easily, following the recipe for traditional pancakes, but replacing the flour with oats, baking powder, and plain yogurt. To make this breakfast even healthier, spray cooking oil on the Royal Prestige Double Griddle. This way, you’ll use as little fat as possible and the pancakes won’t stick to the surface.
To add a final magic touch, prepare a syrup using tropical fruits, such as mango.
Salmon in Orange Juice
Salmon is always a great idea to be healthy and fancy! This fish is not only very versatile and easy to combine with other ingredients, but also an excellent source of vitamin B12 and B6, proteins, essential fatty acids, minerals such as selenium or magnesium, and calcium.
To prepare a delicious and fresh fish, we recommend using a 10 1/2-inch skillet from the Royal Prestige NOVEL line. Simmer the salmon on a bed of celery stalks and slices of orange and squeeze more orange over the top so that it takes on even more flavor.
Here’s a tip! Heat your skillet on high for about 3 minutes. To make sure that it’s hot enough to start cooking the fish, sprinkle a few drops of water on it. If the drops begin to move without evaporating, it’s ready to cook!
Honey Garlic Chicken
Chicken is an easy-to-cook protein, and everyone likes it! To give your recipe a twist and get awarded for the best dish, marinate the chicken with some garlic, honey and dried herbs — like oregano and basil — and don’t forget to use the right cookware to make the most of your cooking experience.
Add the chicken pieces (previously seasoned) to a Dutch Oven 4-quart pot from the Royal Prestige NOVEL line, place the lid ajar and brown them for 4 minutes on one side. Decrease the temperature to low, turn them over, and cover with the valve closed. Add the vegetables and cook for about 15-20 more minutes, depending on the quantity.
Serve with white rice, and we assure you that your husband will never forget this Sunday nor your recipe.
Apple Pork Chops
Pork chops are a favorite for many Latino dads, and we have a tip that will make this dish a healthy treat for a special Sunday!
All meats and poultry contain juices, and part of it is water. Unfortunately, most of the liquid is also fat. By trimming the visible fat from the pork chops before cooking and then “pan broiling” them in a 14‐inch Paella Pan from the Royal Prestige NOVEL line without adding fats or oil, they’ll be more tender, juicy, and much lower in fat and calories.
After pan broiling the pork chops, cook them with some sliced red apples, brown sugar, walnuts, maple syrup, nutmeg, salt, and pepper, cover with the Redi‐Temp® valve closed, and cook at low temperature for 10 minutes.
Serve this delight with mashed potatoes and enjoy this tasty recipe with your husband!
Coffee Pie
What about serving coffee pie for coffee time? Coffee is not only a huge source of antioxidants, but it can also burn fat and help protect against type 2 diabetes.
With a crust made with chocolate sandwich cookies, cream cheese, and heavy cream, and then a filling based on freshly brewed espresso coffee, cream cheese, condensed milk, and marsala wine, we can guarantee that this no-bake coffee pie will make this one of the most special Sundays ever.
